For First-time Users
Library Card Registration
A “library card” is necessary to borrow materials, among other things. Registration is open to
the following individuals, and a document verifying your address and name (such as a
residence card, driver’s license, or health insurance card) is required.
① Residents of Kikuyo Town (only those registered as residents)
② People who commute to or attend school in Kikuyo Town
※ A commuting or school ID, health insurance card, or proof of employment is needed for
verification.
③ Residents of Kikuchi City, Koshi City, or Ozu Town who have a library card from their home
location (Wide-area users)
※ A library card from your home location is required.
Borrow
Please bring the materials you wish to borrow and your Library Card to the counter.
Books, magazines, and kamishibai (picture-card-show) can be borrowed up to 10 items per person, for up to 15 days.
Audiovisual materials (DVDs, CDs) can be borrowed up to 2 items per person, for up to 8
days.
※Loan periods can be extended once, provided there are no subsequent reservations. Please
bring the materials to the counter for extension. Note that magazines and audiovisual
materials (DVDs, CDs) cannot be extended.
Returns
Please bring the materials you have borrowed to the returns counter.
※ Your library card is not required for returns.
※ Returns cannot be made outside of opening hours or on days when the library is closed.
Please ensure you return items during the library’s open hours.
Searching for Books
You can check if the materials you are looking for are available in the library by using the user terminals (computers).
You can search by the title of the book, the author’s name, or the content of the materials.
Reservations & Requests
When the materials you’re searching for are unavailable, you can make a request (reservation).
Please fill out the “Reservation/Request Form” available at the counter with necessary details such as the title and author’s name.
You can also make reservations online.
We will contact you once the materials are ready. A library card is required.
※A maximum of 5 books can be reserved or requested in total.
※Requests can only be made by residents of Kikuyo town.
※Reservations and requests for audiovisual materials (DVDs, CDs), comics, comic essays, manga,
magazines, pre-release books, and the latest issues of magazines are not available.
Research Assistance (Reference Service)
The Reference Service is a service where staff members provide assistance when you want to
find materials for research or inquiries.
Copy Service
The library offers a copying service for its materials within the limits allowed by copyright law
(charges apply).
Black and white: 10 yen per page
Color: 50 yen per page
Internet
Internet access is available. Limited to one hour per person per day. A library card is required.
Group Study Rooms
Available for groups of three or more students (elementary, middle, high school, vocational school, and university students).
Limited to two hours per group. A library card is required.
Working Adults’ Room
Available for use by adults. A library card is required.
Computer Use Seats
Dedicated seats for those using laptops.
You can work using your own computer, and you are allowed to use power for the laptop only.
However, printers are not available for use.
About the Library Card
○ If you lose your card, please submit a reissuance request. It takes one week from the time the request is submitted until the card is reissued.
○ Regardless of the reason, the issuance of a second card and any subsequent cards will be charged a fee.
○ If there are any changes to your address, phone number, etc, please contact the library.
○ The card is valid for 5 years. Verification of address, etc., is required for renewal.
○ Only the cardholder can use the card.
Request
○ Eating, drinking, smoking, using mobile phones, and taking photos are not permitted inside the library.
○ Please do not bring pets into the library. (This does not apply to guide dogs and assistance dogs.)
○ We ask for your cooperation to avoid causing inconvenience to other patrons.
○ If a book is torn or a page comes loose, please do not attempt to repair it yourself using scotch tape or similar; instead, bring it to the library as is. The library will repair it using specialized tools.
